Camilla is a teacher and pianist from the Åland Islands, Finland. She has two Masters degrees in music from the Royal Academy of music in Stockholm and the Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki. She is a classically trained piano player and music teacher, but has also degrees in pop- and jazz piano and how to freely do accompaniments in different genres. She has also studied saxophone and bass guitar.
In 2005 Camilla received an award from the Sibelius-Academy for outstanding achievements in her studies. She won second price and the jury’s recommendation in the composition contest Musik.ax 2006 and the first price in the composition competition for the musical “Kick” in the Swedish Theater 2003. She has composed music for theater and has since 2004 composed music for her and the singer Emilia Nymans band EC. She co-produced the album Chasing Rainbows (2008) and the single Merry Christmas (2009). The second album is currently on the way!
Camilla’s area of expertise lies in her ability to see beyond the boundaries of genres. She has taught “free accompaniment” since 2007 at the prestigious Sibelius-Academy. She is a sought after pianist, piano teacher and accompanist. She works for instance for the improvisation theater Stjärnfall.
Camilla spend four months as an artist in resident at the Cité International des Arts in Paris in 2009 where the idea of ”Free piano” was born. She met Mr Georges Agbazahou as an artist in resident at Villa Karo, the Finnish-African Culture Center in Benin in 2010.
